Pupil Premium

Pupil Premium

At Lister Community School, we are committed to ensuring that every pupil achieves their full potential. The Pupil Premium is additional funding provided directly by the Department for Education (DfE) to support disadvantaged students of all abilities. The amount of funding a school receives depends on the number of eligible pupils, with nearly half of our students qualifying for this additional support.

Purpose of the Pupil Premium

National research from the DfE shows that students who have ever been eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) tend to have lower educational attainment than their peers. The Pupil Premium enables schools to provide targeted support, resources, and interventions to help close the attainment gap and ensure all students can succeed academically and personally.

Eligibility

  • £1,035 for students who have been eligible for FSM in the past six years

  • £2,530 for students who have been continuously looked after for six months or more, adopted from care, or under a Special Guardianship or Residence Order

  • £300 for students whose parent(s) are currently serving in the armed forces or receiving a pension from the Ministry of Defence

How We Use the Pupil Premium

At Lister, our pupil premium strategy is carefully planned and closely monitored to maximise its impact. Funding is used to provide tailored support and opportunities to disadvantaged students, ensuring they have access to the resources they need to excel. Detailed information on our strategy and spending allocation is available in our Pupil Premium Report, updated November 2024.
